Consulting

Every project, regardless of size, benefits from pre-planning and upfront site analysis. It is the most critical task that we undertake because it involves grasping the vision of the Client, clarifying project goals, identifying & optimizing conservation and efficiency opportunities, and isolating potential obstacles that could jeopardize project success. Hines team members have the experience to recognize and address these elements prior to the design phase of a project so that the project budget may instead be spent on capturing the original vision of the project.
How does 'Strategy Save'?
Planning & Development
Essential to every project in which we are invited to participate, Hines engineers meet with the project Owner & Design Team to review project requirements. During preliminary phases of the project we ascertain water conservation goals & develop site specific water use strategies consistent with principles of site self-sustainability & budgetary milestones.
Site Water Balance Development
Continuing our distinctly collaborative process, Hines staff meet with the project engineering team to develop a comprehensive site water balance. Because plant water requirements may comprise up to 75% of total site water use, incorporating an accurate understanding of plant water requirements provides essential information required to effectively plan significant site infrastructure & associated budgets.
Implementing our proprietary process to analyze site landscape water use, Hines engineers are able to provide an early evaluation of the impact of multiple water conservation methods. This is an excellent phase in planning to review potential water capture, reuse, and alternative water source opportunities. Deliverables typically included estimated seasonal water use, estimated system infrastructure costs, and longterm maintenance requirements.
Site Infrastructure Concept Development
Utilizing information gathered in previous tasks, our team will produce Concept Planing documents such as, Master Plans, Engineering Reports, and Narrative System Descriptions. Developed for Design Team & Owner review, the items included in this set of deliverables may include:
- Evaluation & feasibility studies of utilizing alternate water sources
- Projections of efficient infrastructure sizing
- Cost Benefit Analysis of various options considered
