Streetscape projects often result in unique conditions where pedestrian interaction, close vehicular proximity, maintenance personnel safety considerations, heat island effect, and tight stacking of various utilities are all in play at the same time! Hines has the skills, processes, and previous experience that allows us to navigate complex design environments while maximizing performance and value.

━━━━━━

Involved for several years and through multiple design iterations, Hines Engineers have provided irrigation & water conservation technology planning services for this impeccable renovation of Post Oak Boulevard.  Working closely with the District, existing property owners, & the design team, Hines provided a range of services from existing system as-built development, renovation & demolition planning, new system design, high technology implementation planning, site water & irrigation maintenance plan development.

What we accomplished:

1.

Innovative design approach development to integrate nearly 1,000 new trees into the project.

2.

Detailed irrigation system design for both public ROW, transportation areas, highly customized landscape irrigation detailing in urban & transportation contexts.

3.

Specification development & implementation of a site sustainable irrigation control system to reduce irrigation water use across the site.

In developing this exciting urban project, the City challenged the design team to eliminate the use of potable water for all site water features & irrigation systems.  Challenge accepted!

What we accomplished:

1.

Utilizing treated building blow-down water, Hines designed an inventive delivery to site storage serving eight (8) on-site water features, one of which included a 20-foot wide, 30-foot free fall off the parking garage wall.

2.

Efficient water feature mechanical system engineering saved the Client over $400,000.

3.

Provision of a cutting edge, water conserving irrigation system.
